In Orange County California there are multiple types of clinics that offer detox. Each type of facility has different admission criteria and also each facility has different payment options. An inpatient facility is usually hospital based where an individual can have a private or semiprivate room based on what is available. Insurance and private payment are accepted at most inpatient facilities. Although admission criteria may vary, the most common type of admission to an inpatient detox is for alcoholism or opiate dependency. These two are inpatient because insurance companies recognize these substances as requiring doctor supervision and 24 hour a day nursing in a hospital setting. That being said it is absolutely necessary for an addict seeking a detox for alcohol and opiate dependency to keep in mind that there are several treatment programs in Orange County that offer detox for these substances that are not inpatient. Next we have residential treatment clinics in Orange County that offer detox. Facilities like these usually offer three types of payments: private pay, insurance based, and county funded. To be detoxified in this setting there is usually a lower acuity, meaning a lesser need for medical supervision. Most Orange County detox facilities will have an individual initially seen by a medical doctor or a nurse practitioner, then are put in their private or semiprivate room and checked up on by either nursing or nonmedical staff 24 hours 7 days a week. With close doctor supervision, a person can detox on an outpatient basis. Also there are concierge doctors that will go to an addict’s home and do an initial assessment and treatment plan followed up by nursing or non medical staff care, that stays throughout the detox.
